What Is Invisalign?

by Sacks Orthodontics

Founded in 1997 by Align Technology, Invisalign aligners have become one of the most popular forms of treatment to get a beautiful straight smile. Invisalign aligners are clear plastic aligners specifically modified to a patient’s mouth using the iTero Element to take scans and design the right treatment for the patient. Invisalign is mostly targeted towards adults and teens; however, Invisalign also has treatments specifically designed for a growing child’s mouth known as Invisalign first. Treatment costs usually range between $3000- $7000.

What Is The Invisalign Process Like?

The Invisalign process begins with a consultation at an orthodontics office, where the patient is then scanned and analyzed to find the condition of the teeth. From the scan result, the patient is given a treatment plan accommodated to result in a straight smile in as little time as possible. Treatment plans can range anywhere between 6- 24 months, depending on the severity of the patient’s teeth.

Does Invisalign Limit What Types Of Food A Person Eats?

One of the patient’s main concerns when researching Invisalign treatment is whether or not they will be able to indulge and enjoy the food they regularly eat. The great thing about Invisalign Aligners is that they allow patients to eat whatever foods they want along with the proper care. Invisalign are removable plastic aligners that are usually easy to remove when a patient is about to eat.

Unlike normal wired braces, they can be set aside until the person is done eating and placed right back in. The only minor issue is if a person were to lose or accidentally dispose of the Invisalign, they would have to purchase and replace them.

What Are The Benefits Of Invisalign?

Unlike normal wired braces, Invisalign aligners are designed to give more freedom and expression to patients. Invisalign aligners are clear removable devices that could be removed to properly cleanse the oral cavity and not having any restrictions on a person’s diet. On the other hand, Braces can not be removed and are less comfortable to wear and clean.

With Invisalign, patients don’t need to worry about what foods may damage or impose on their treatment and don’t have to take long measures to clean in between each brace properly. Invisalign is a monthly treatment conducted to grow and change where the teeth are shifting, and this technology may also lead to a much quicker treatment plan and ensure a straight, beautiful smile in as little time as possible.
